Junior golfers learn to play golf on one of four Northbrook Park District golf courses while participating in fun, friendly, interactive team and individual events. The leagues offer on-course tips, stroke play tournaments, match play, scrambles, best ball, prizes and a season-ending party. Children continue to learn golf etiquette and rules.
Sportsman's Mini Golf Course is launching a summer league to keep golf fun and simple. Children play for an hour two mornings each week for nine weeks. The league includes stroke play, best ball and match play games, and a season-ending ice cream party. Tee times are pre-booked in succession starting at 10:30am, and available on a first come, first-served weekly basis. Registration is available at Sportsman's Practice Range starting May 1. Children can sign up with friends or alone to enjoy seven weeks of mini golf on Sunday mornings. The Fall League includes stroke play, best ball and match play games. During October, the course is transformed into a Spooktacular setting with Halloween decorations. The league concludes with a Halloween Costume Party. Tee times are pre-booked in succession starting at 11am, and available on a first come, first-served weekly basis. Registration is available at Sportsman's Practice Range starting August 1. This league provides a fun, safe and supervised learning environment, with added benefits of exercise, motor skill and social skill development. Juniors learn to play by the rules, use proper etiquette, and gain an appreciation of the game. Skill games and prizes are included. The league plays on the recently rebuilt Anetsberger Golf Course, which offers 1,128-yards of golf, all par 3 holes and a state-of-the-art short game practice area.
Prerequisite: Completion of Phase 1 Par Player Class in the Junior Golf Development Series or testing for placement. Where: Anetsberger Golf Course
The Northbrook Golf Academy's original junior golf league plays on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am-noon and 3:30-4:30-pm, from June 16 through August 13 and includes on-course tips, an annual club championship and season-ending party. At the end of the season, the top 16 point finishers are invited to compete in the annual Anetsberger Cup.
Prerequisite: Completion of Phase 1 Par Player Class in the Junior Golf Development Series or testing for placement. Fees: $12 per day and $45 one-time league fee. Prizes are awarded to the winners daily. After joining the Anetsberger league, juniors can add the East 9 League as well on Tuesdays and Thursdays for only an additional league fee of $20 + daily green fees. This league is ideal for junior golfers looking to play a slightly longer and more challenging golf course. The league meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays with tee times ranging from 1-2pm, playing from the forward tees with an expectation of on-time golf. The league runs from June 15 through August 12 and includes an annual club championship and season-ending party. At the end of the season, the top 16 point finishers are invited to compete in the 1st annual East 9'r Cup. Prerequisite: Completion of Phase 2 Birdie Player in the Junior Golf Development Series or testing for placement. Players receive on-course tips and a pre-round warm up at the Practice Range. Prizes are awarded daily to event winners. The Sportsman's East 9 Golf Course offers up to 3,010 yards of challenging play with par 3s, 4s and 5s and undulating greens. Fees: $45 one-time league fee + green fees of $16 for Resident Card Holders or $19 per day. After joining the Sportsman's East 9 Summer league, juniors can add the Sportsman's Classic 18 Summer League on Tuesdays and Thursdays for only an additional league fee of $20 + daily green fees. The league includes a pre-round warm-up session at the Practice Range and tips on-course. Prizes are awarded daily to event winners. The Sportsman's Classic 18 underwent a complete redesign and renovation in 2007 by Jacobson Golf Course Design and has been honored for its routing, playability, maintainability and aesthetics. Fees: $45 one-time league fee + green fee of $28 for Resident Card holders or $36 per day. After joining the Sportsman's Classic 18 Summer League, juniors can add the Sportsman's East 9 League on Tuesdays and Thursdays for only an additional league fee of $20 + daily green fees.
